Our top recommendation: SureFeed Microchip Pet Feeder

SureFeed is the better access-control bowl. It recognizes common implanted microchips or the included RFID collar tag, accepts wet and dry food, and stores up to 32 identities. It does not schedule or dispense meals, so an owner must fill the 400-milliliter bowl.

Cats that graze on wet or dry food already placed in a bowl and can use an implanted microchip

Decision first

Quick picks

Quick verdict

Choose SureFeed when the job is to protect a wet or dry ration already served to a microchipped cat. Choose PETLIBRO One RFID when the job is to schedule dry-food portions for one cat wearing PETLIBRO’s collar tag.

They overlap on selective access, but they are not two versions of the same machine. One protects a bowl; the other dispenses and protects kibble.

Side-by-side comparison

Decision factor SureFeed Microchip Pet Feeder PETLIBRO One RFID
Access key Implanted microchip or Sure Petcare tag Dedicated PETLIBRO collar tag
Food type Wet or dry Dry, 2–15 mm
Automatic dispensing No Up to 10 scheduled meals
Capacity 400 ml bowl 3 L hopper
Authorized identities Up to 32 One tag per unit
Connectivity None on standard model 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi and app
Power Four C batteries Cord plus three D backup batteries

The identifier is the first decision

SureFeed can use the identification microchip already implanted in a compatible cat. PETLIBRO cannot. It relies on its own 4.2-gram collar tag and reader mat. That makes PETLIBRO unsuitable when the cat will not wear a collar consistently.

SureFeed also includes a collar-tag route for an unchipped pet. Before buying either unit, decide whether the household needs no-collar recognition or accepts a proprietary wearable.

Our broader microchip feeder guide for cats on different diets compares selective bowls from several brands. This page answers the narrower SureFeed-versus-PETLIBRO decision.

Wet food and scheduled kibble are different jobs

SureFeed lets a registered cat return to a protected 400-milliliter bowl, which suits grazing on wet or dry food. PETLIBRO stores dry food in a hopper and portions it at scheduled times. It is not a wet-food feeder.

If timed wet meals are the requirement, compare automatic wet-food feeders with ice packs instead. Neither a covered bowl nor an ice pack replaces appropriate food handling.

Power and app dependence change the failure plan

SureFeed’s standard model uses four C batteries and does not need Wi-Fi. PETLIBRO uses wall power, with three D batteries as emergency backup; PETLIBRO says Wi-Fi is disabled on battery power while meal schedules continue.

Test lid behavior, tag recognition, the battery warning, and manual access before relying on either feeder. Automatic equipment does not replace a person checking that the cat can reach food and that the unit remains clean and powered.

Multi-cat setup cost

SureFeed can authorize several identities, but most different-diet homes still need separate protected stations to keep each ration distinct. PETLIBRO supports one tag per feeder, so two cats needing separate schedules require two units placed at least 10 inches apart according to PETLIBRO.

Compare the full household cost: feeders, batteries, collars, bowls, desiccant, and the space needed to prevent crowding. The cheaper single unit may not be the cheaper multi-cat system.

Bottom line

SureFeed wins for implanted-microchip access, wet food, and a simpler offline bowl. PETLIBRO wins for scheduled dry meals and app records. Choose from food format and access key before comparing smart features.

Frequently asked questions

Can PETLIBRO One RFID read a cat's implanted microchip?+

No. PETLIBRO states that the feeder reads only its dedicated collar tag. SureFeed can recognize common implanted identification microchips and can also use its compatible RFID collar tag.

Can SureFeed automatically dispense food on a schedule?+

The standard SureFeed Microchip Pet Feeder protects food an owner has already placed in the bowl; it is not a hopper feeder. PETLIBRO One RFID can dispense scheduled portions of compatible dry food.

Which feeder works with wet cat food?+

SureFeed accepts wet or dry food in its bowl. PETLIBRO One RFID is documented for dry pieces from 2 to 15 millimeters. SureFeed's lid helps cover food but does not refrigerate it, so normal food-handling limits still apply.
